Myofascial Cupping

Picture
Cupping is an ancient technique originating in China and appearing across other cultures such as that of the Egyptians, Greeks and Hindus. It has evolved much over the ages, both in its uses, the specific techniques used, as well as in our understanding of its benefits. Modern Day cupping can be effective for a range of musculoskeletal maladies including but not limited to; discomfort in the back and neck region due to desk work posture, planta fasciitis, sporting maintenance, reduction of sympathetic nervous activity , as well as the drawing of blood from deep to superficial layers as a means of nourishing the skin.

Annemarie is also a Remedial Massage therapist and is happy to provide a combined service of cupping with Remedial, Swedish or Sports Massage. Please make sure you are very well hydrated before attending a cupping session as the treatment will lead to mild dehydration. It is advised that in aftercare, clients refrain from exercise for one day following treatment and continue to rehydrate. After a first treatment it is possible that the client may feel a little under the weather for up to 72 hours. It is also possible that there will be some marking of the skin, especially for those of Asian or Irish descent, although unlike more traditional forms of the treatment, this marking is not guaranteed, and is avoided where possible.
